Do you want to experience world class research in your own backyard this summer? UAB Center for Community OutReah Development (CORD) hosts its annual Summer Science Institute (SSI) for students rising to grades 10 – 12. The goal of SSI is to prepare local high school students for competitive careers in biomedical sciences and healthcare. SSI is a progressive 3 summer program which introduces students to basic scientific concepts and lab skills in summer one; develops and extends this knowledge during summer two and in summer three students apply their training and skills by carrying out a biomedical study in a UAB lab under the auspices of a premiere research investigator/mentor. Applications are available in dmill’s office. There is a cost involved $250 - $350 , but scholarships are available for those with demonstrated need. Deadline for delivery of application is Friday April 14 by 5pm.
